Anybody got ideas too increase performance of 49cc 2 stroke ape van. Does not pull very well, unless you pull out the choke.

Is it standard? or has the engine been modified in any way?
If its all original I would take a look underneath at the rear where the airfilter etc is situated. Check the bendy hose that comes from the airfilter box to the long plastic tube underneath on the left side. If its an older ape this flexible hose can split along its length or at the ends causing an air leak. This will make the engine run lean and the choke being put on is providing a richer mixture and allowing it to pull better.
Thats the first and most obvious thing to check. Let us know what you find and we can go from there.
Next things to check would be a loose intake manifold, loose exhaust, loose carb, loose connection from carb to airbox.

Plenty of mods available for the Ape, most folk add a 112cc kit, +10KMH Malossi gear and Malossi pipe with new air filter and bigger main jet or 19mm carb, budget £500
